Pete the Cat and his Groovy Field Trip Adventure!

I am stoked by the Pinterest-sharing success of my preschool field trip adventure to the library based on "Dog's Colorful Day" by Emma Dodd.

This year, we decided to change it up by:

1) Basing the field trip on "Pete the Cat and his Four Groovy Buttons" (if you're not into rapping and dancing, this one might not be for you. But it was REALLY fun for us and our first group).

2) Highlighting only four of the eight areas written out in this post from last year's tour. The reasoning behind this was three fold:
--Pete the Cat only lost four buttons, leaving him with only four buttons to find. DUH.
--Last year we saw a mix of ages 2-5 yrs. Two-year-olds and 5-year-olds are into different things, and that was clear at different parts of the tour.
--The transition time between activities/places in the library for daycare kids is about 50 years.

Here's the kinda-sorta breakdown of developmentally interesting areas:
2-3: DVDs, AWE computers, picture books, the Reading Boat
3-4: DVDs, AWE computers, picture paperbacks, the Reading Boat
4-5: DVDs, non-fiction books, picture paperbacks, the Reading Boat

I mention other areas as we walk by them (like, "on our way you can see the music area, where you can pick out a CD to sing along with at home!") but collecting stickers happens at these four places.
